Chuck Suchy is a folk musician, songwriter, and working farmer from Mandan, North Dakota. Born and raised on his family’s farm, Chuck draws inspiration from the people, stories, and everyday life of the Great Plains.
His songs celebrate the prairie, farm life, family, and North Dakota history, including his moving ballad “The Story of Hazel Miner,” about a 15-year-old girl who died saving her younger siblings during the March 1920 blizzard.
Chuck has released eight studio albums and has performed at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage and on Prairie Home Companion. He was named North Dakota’s Centennial Troubadour in 1989 and became the state’s first official State Troubadour in 2005.
His music is a heartfelt reflection of the people and places he calls home—and a celebration of the enduring spirit of the Great Plains.
