Fish and Folk Art – Summer Kids Art Camp
Dive into creativity at Fish and Folk Art, a fun, hands-on summer art camp inspired by the New York Mills Annual Fish House Festival and North American folk art traditions. In this camp, young artists will explore the colorful world of fish, lakes, and outdoor culture while learning about famous folk artists such as Clementine Hunter, Maud Lewis, and the quilters of Gee’s Bend.
Campers will create a variety of mixed-media projects using paint, collage, texture materials, and found objects. We’ll design imaginative fish, decorate mini fish houses, and build layered artworks that tell stories about community, nature, and everyday life — just like folk artists do. Along the way, students will learn simple folk art techniques, experiment with pattern and color, and develop their own personal style.
This camp is perfect for curious, creative kids who enjoy trying new materials and making art that is playful, bold, and full of character. No prior art experience needed — just bring your imagination and be ready to make a splash! 🎨🐟
